Backed by Amazon (4 Billion investment and access to AWS Cloud compute Services), the model they released in June 24, Claude 3.5 seems to be outcompeting GPT4 on most metrics.
Anthropic was originally founded in 2021 by seven former employees of OpenAI, including siblings Daniela Amodei and Dario Amodei, the latter of whom served as OpenAI’s Vice President of Research.
Where OpenAI’s mission has focused on bringing AI to scale , its rival Anthropic was originally focused on safety and security.
And its co-founders, siblings and former OpenAI employees Daniela and Dario Amodei, say their concerns about AI’s potential for harm originated from the directional changes of priorities as a result of its ventures with Microsoft in 2019.
As it’s often the case, the mouth says “safety is top priority” while their hands build an increasingly wild and reckless reality for all of us.
