Success in creating AI would be the biggest event in all of human history. It might also be the last, unless we learn how to avoid the risks.
I fear that AI may replace humans altogether. If people design computer viruses, someone will design AI that improves and replicates itself. This will be a new form of life that outperforms humans.
We only have to look at ourselves to see. How intelligent life might develop into something, we would not want to meet.
If a superior alien civilization sent us a message saying: “We will arrive in a few years.” Would we just reply: “Okay, call us when you get here. We will leave the lights on”? Probably not. But, this is more or less what is happening with AI.
The development of full artificial intelligence could spell the end of the human race.
